my hero

Before we got married, I heard many stories of Hugh's amazing sleep antics. He talks in his sleep, he walks in his sleep, and he even fights in his sleep. He's had recurring dreams about being attacked, and will wake up to find himself throwing his blanket over his "attacker", or brandishing the bedside lamp at an imagined assailant. He's even ripped off his closet door once while dreaming. You can imagine this made me a bit nervous, but Hugh assured me that if he did have any dreams like that after we were married, he would probably be trying to protect me, rather than confuse me with someone attacking him. Turns out he was right. After three months of nothing more exciting than some incoherent sleep-talking, I was abruptly woken in the middle of the night last night by Hugh grabbing me around my waist and starting to lift me. He probably woke up when he realized how heavy I was. His explanation at the time didn't make much sense-something jumbled about not being safe and making me safe. This morning I found out he was dreaming that our bed had been booby trapped and he was taking me to safety. Nice to know he's got my back :)

I totally understand! I can't tell you how many times I've been woked up my Dave's interesting sleep antics! Everything from oranges growing on the walls to yelling, "The sarcasm! The sarcasm!" Makes for great stories :)
