I've been watching Survivor: Heroes vs Villains and it is driving me nuts. Didn't any of them watch the season that Russell was in? Didn't they realize that the very first thing they needed to do in the game was vote him off?! The show actually ties my stomach in knots, especially during challenges. Yet I keep watching.

This week at Illuminate (Friday afternoon kid's club at church) we're starting a series on the parables of Jesus. I'm pretty stoked to get into more serious Bible teaching (last term we watched Veggie Tales videos, which doesn't give quite as much scope for discussion and finding out how the kids are responding). We'll be doing the parable about seed landing on the four types of soil-here's hoping all the kids will be like the good soil! To complement the lesson, we're making "hairy caterpillars"-like chia pets, but with panty hose. Which brings me to my next task for the day-heading off in search of cheap grass seed (the second hand store helped me out with the pantyhose bit...not so helpful with the gardening bit).
