saturday
We're having another stretch of summery weather here. We spent the day at the Whittlesea Show yesterday. Well, Hugh spent the day, because he was helping out in the morning at the Bendigo Community Bank tent as part of his duties as one of the directors. I arrived early afternoon, enjoyed some lunch, and we hung out with some friends-Danny and Ali, their sons Eden and Sacha, and their aunt Fi. They were the perfect friends to run into, because the boys were the only people interested in going on the rides with me. They were pretty dinky rides, but I still had fun on the rocket ships and the spinning cars :)
The bank had hired Hugh's 14 year old nephew Haden to dress up in their pig mascot outfit for the day. He was boiling hot in it, so we took him home, where we were treated to lots of delicious food. I also got to play with Cody (5 year old nephew). Cody is a really tough nut to crack, but I have managed to get through to the inner circle of accepted adults-a lovely victory.
Hugh and I crashed pretty early after our long, hot dusty day, only to be awoken at 3 am by a phone call to my cell. They hung up before getting to the answering service, and it was a number I didn't recognize. Half an hour later I received a text message from the same number saying how much Josh and the texter respect me, and sorry for what Josh did to the car, he only meant to set the alarm off...First clue that the text wasn't for me was that it was addressed to 'Babe'. I am wondering if this guy not only doesn't know the girl's actual phone number, but also doesn't know her name! Hopefully Babe and Josh and the texter can patch it all up.
