lit by your face

It has been a very good weekend so far. Last night I went to the more girly, exciting version of a tupperware party-a perfume party. I had about eight different perfumes spread out over my arms.
Today I treated myself to breakfast at a cafe down the street before heading to the shopping center to undertake one of my least favorite shopping chores: buying pants. Because of my dislike of the shape of my legs, buying pants can be very demoralizing, but I did end up finding a pair I like, as well as getting a really cute skirt that's long enough that I can be comfortable wearing it to teach five year olds (which involves lots of crouching and bending over). To convince myself that the pants looked ok, I had to put my jeans back on and look at myself in the mirror in them to realize that yep, that's just what my legs look like no matter what pants I'm wearing.
Once I was done my shopping, I had about a half hour before my bus was coming so I decided to have a wander around the bookstore, where I ran into a woman I had met on placement (she used to teach at the school and now sometimes comes in as a supply). I said hello, and ended up getting to meet her husband (he loves Canada!), getting treated to lunch, and getting a ride home! It was really lovely to have a chance encounter turn into such a nice time.
Tonight I went to a Rugby League game with seven friends from church. We watched the Melbourne Storm totally trounce the Sydney Roosters. Never having watched a rugby game before (except for the last five minutes of one of Erika's high school games), it was still quite easy to follow and understand. Some of the tackles were absolutely incredible. As was some of the heckling.
