mature on the inside

I'm looking at the world through a blur. How the heck do people keep their glasses clean?

Kate and I have been reading to each other from some of our favorite books. I've been reading Daddy Long Legs to her and she's begun to read The Magic Faraway Tree to me. I avoided Enid Blyton my whole childhood, and figured it was about time I gave her a go. Apart from the agravating gender stereotype behavior (the girls unpacking their male cousin's bags, the brother telling the girls to hurry up with the sandwhich making already) its been quite enjoyable.

Today after lunch in the city with Kelly and Dawn, Naomi and I went to the Great Wall of China exhibit at the Melbourne Museum. For the second time this year, we got to dress up together, (the first time was at Old Parliament in Canberra), this time, we were terracotta warriors. When I work at a museum, there will definitely be dress up opportunities for kids and grown ups.

Tomorrow begins my three days of Organizing and Getting Things Done. I have low expectations, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised by what I achieve.

    1. Mix up a batch of 1/4 ammonia, 3/4 water and 2 squirts of dish detergent and store it in a spray bottle.

    2. As you prepare for bed, spray the glasses completely (not just the lenses) with the solution.

    3. Rub them a little with your fingers and rinse thoroughly with very warm water.

    4. Dry them with a small piece of cloth. (A clean handkerchief would be great. I don't recommend a used handkerchief.) As you dry them, rub the lenses with a circular motion.

    5. Wrap the clean glasses in the cloth until morning.

    6. Enjoy squeaky clean glasses all day. Repeat each night with a new cloth. They just keep getting better.

    (Sorry. You asked.)

HI JOANNA. There was a giant landslide on the road I normally take to get to work! So we're stuck in Cusco. They think a longer road will be open but it means a 12 hour bus ride. Bummeroni. And it means no hot water on the weekend because who wants to travel 12 hours only to have to turn around again and do it again. Poo

Bob, that sounds like a lot of work. But maybe you could mix me up a batch for a welcome home present?

To wash my specs I just use some diswashing detergent on my fingers under a luke warm running tap and then dab dry with a tea towel ot tissue. PS.. The blog is great, glad I discovered it, you have had some adventures haven't you!
