tilling
I think I might have seen a dead locust on the ground today. But I'm not sure because I don't know what they look like.
Tonight Hugh and I finished off the "no-dig" garden we started on the weekend. It involved layers of newspapers straight onto the grass/weeds, then layers of compost, grass clippings, sugar cane mulch and soil. We've edged it on three sides with some of the bricks that have been sitting in random places around the house, and the front is edged with a beautiful sleeper type piece of wood that was sitting against the fence in the front yard. We've planted corn, sunflower seeds, broccoli, peppers, parsley, chives, beans, basil, and leeks. It will pretty much be a matter of seeing what has grown when we get back from Canada!
I'm a bit stressed about getting things done before we leave in two weeks. Trying to believe that everything that needs to be done will happen. We cleared out our spare room to make room for our friend who's house sitting, and some of the stuff that got cleared out is just piled in the office. Actually, the office is the last place that really needs work. Maybe we're not doing too badly.
I got quite a drastic haircut yesterday. It's still all nice and straightened, and I'm a bit worried about what it will do tomorrow when I let it air dry. Fingers crossed for not being too bushy and giving me triangle head!
I'm at the point of anticipating our trip where it actually becomes a reality that in two weeks and two days, we'll be in Kingston. Not just an abstract idea to look forward to, but something real. Start making time for us in your calendars :)
