Motivated.
Erika and Katherine are both at home! Now I can talk to them both in the same phone call. And it'll only be a few more days until my parents are at home as well. Hurray for long talks with the family! (Note to self: ask them how the vegetables and watermelon are doing in the garden.)
Today is schoolwork day. I got a headstart last night by beginning my literature log, and by writing an entry for my journal where I get to reflect on things like what kind of teacher I want to be, what the purpose of school is, etc. I was pretty proud of myself for having made an entry that wasn't assigned.
Today I'm hoping to start two assignments:
1. A resource file for a humanities subject (ie Rememberance Day, the gold rush)
2. A phys ed warm up activity that I have to explain what skills it develops and why its useful.
To clear up things from the title of my last post: Since coming here, I've been surrounded by adults. I miss kids, and Wednesday night I went to a thing that someone had brought their one-year old to, and it was really exciting for me to be around a baby.
Wow, I have had such a good start to today. First of all, I got 10 hours of sleep last night. Secondly, I had a great conversation with an ex-primary school teacher who lives on my floor. Thirdly, I'm talking on msn with Erika! Fourthly, although I'm planning to do school work all day, I'm going to the movies tonight and therefore have something to look forward to.

10 hours of sleep? what are they doing to you down there to wear you out so much? I'm lucky if I get 6!
Last night, I was woken 3 times. 1 by Myron on the computer playing his games (I think when the computer shuts down it wakes me) 2 by neighbours dragging a WAGON of beer into their backyard. 3 James woke up at 4am I think he was cold, but he said he was scared because he thought it would have more staying power.
So, I'm planning to move to Austalia to sleep like you!

I have a good way to get lots of sleep Aphra, and it is to not have a child, and to not share a bedroom, but I'm afraid neither of these techniques will be terribly useful for you.

Oh Joanna being so practical, I'm sure all it really requires is moving to Australia! Can you say I live in denial?

hmmm, well I worked 8 hours last night whilst being miserable and sick, and then I couldn't sleep last night because I was miserable and sick and then I got up at 8 this morning and worked another 8 hours whilst being. . . you guess it - miserable and sick. But I'm in bed now with a muffin and my favourite pyjamas and lots of House episodes and an internet connection, so actually, I'm pretty darn happy. Still, I wish I had your productivity to boast of. Ahh well, there is always next week, n'est-ce pas?
xo

p.s. not that it helps - but I would love to give you a neck massage:)

Hey Jo, you seem to be seeing lots of movies since hitting Au. I don't remember you talking about movies so much when you were home.
Poor Erika: I hate yeuchhy basement bugs and I am a macho man. Maybe I'll call your dad the next time I have one at our place.

Can I call your dad if I see bugs too? I had a showdown with a hornet today. I won. I wanted to leave it's carcass on the windowsill as a trophy to my triumph but Myron cleaned him up.
