land of the silver birch

Tomorrow I'm teaching lessons based on Canada. I'm excited, although I've got a lot of work ahead of me tonight. Thanks for everyone's pictures and suggestions :)
If we can fit it all in, I think we'll do a mapping activity, look at a Native American legend (these two are the most important because they fit with what they're doing in class at the moment). We'll also look at a slideshow of pictures of Canada that will teach some stuff, like, we have bears, snow, our waterways freeze in winter, etc. I'm also hoping to teach them Land of the Silver Birch and maybe do something else that I can't remember right now. It's gonna be a full day!
Before all that I'll be doing devotions with them and getting them started on writing out their testimonies (copying what my Bible study is doing-thanks for the idea Danny!).
I just found three extra verses for Land of the Silver Birch on Wikipedia-sweet!

Today while some of the students were at choir, I did a simple activity where I read to the students from Catherine, Called Birdy. It's set in the middle ages, so we had an informal history lesson to start off with, and then they just worked on illustrations for the book while I read to them. I love history and reading out loud. I wish I could do it all day :)

Home of the Beaver. Yesterday I was walking home by the stream and in the winter I had seen a baby beaver that I named Hank but I hadn't seen him in a while AND HE WAS SITTING EATING SOME GRASS AND CHILLING right by where I was walking. So I stared at him for a while and some asian kids stared at me for a while and it was SOOOOOOOOO kewl.

Oh, and Jo - you can read historic novels out loud to me any time!
