home again

We're home again in our cold house, with a heater that isn't working properly. Bring on warm, sunny spring!!!

Victoria has had more rain this year than it has for I think more than ten years. Thanks to the huge amount of rain this winter, Melbourne has gone from Stage 3 water restrictions down to Stage 2. We can now do exciting things like wash our cars at home (on stage 3, the only parts of your car you could wash at home were windows, mirrors, and lights-if you wanted a full clean, you had to go to a "water efficient" commercial car wash). I think that's the only change that will really affect us, since we don't really water our lawn or garden. Maybe my car will get cleaned more than once a year now.

We've just spent the afternoon hanging out at Hugh's parents and now need to clean up our slightly disastrously messy house before I go out tonight to a thank you night for everyone involved in children's ministries at our church. I'm not that super keen on going, but I'm glad that the teenagers who help us out at the kid's club Friday afternoon are coming along. I hope it will make them feel appreciated.

funnily enough, I never wash my car because the deluge of rain rinses it of every second day.

not that anyone should use my car as a measure of car-cleanliness.

Water restrictions make sense in some situations. Sometimes they don't. You sure have to feel sorry for this poor 82-year-old woman!: http://www.kingstonthisweek.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2740451&.

Bob, I showed Hugh that article, and he used it tonight to heckle during the sermon, thinking the article had been in our local free newspaper and that everyone would know what he was referring to. The perils of following "news" in two countries :)

I agree! You should take an extra long shower tonight. Glad you enjoyed your mini escape.
