High on a mountain of love

Bob, you're right, I have been seeing a lot of movies. I went to see Confetti on Saturday night (a British mockumentary about a wedding magazine's competition for the most original wedding), watched Pride & Prejudice on Friday afternoon, and watched an Australian movie, The Castle, last night. And I was thinking I might pop by the library to check out a movie to watch tonight, but NO, I will be concentrating on schoolwork, and on laundry if I can get the right change.

We've had our first "test". It was on doing running records, a tool to check how a child is doing with reading. They read a book out loud to you, and you have a copy of the text and use different symbols to show where they sounded out a word, self-corrected after getting a word wrong, missed a word, substituted a word, etc, and then you analyze their miscues to figure out what they need to work on in their reading. I think I did ok. It felt nice to have an assessment, or at least it was a bit of a wake up call: "Hello Joanna, you are in school!" We had a math test last week but that wasn't quite the same because it was more to see where our primary level math is at so we know what we need to work on over the year.

Sunday afternoon I went to the Immigration Museum with a Chinese friend from my floor. Quite a few museums here are free for students which is really nice. It gives me a nice feeling of being able to take my time, because I can always come back later if I miss something. Anyway, I am so glad that Jenny and I went when we did, because about 45 minutes after we got there, there was a free Bollywood dance class!!! It was great fun. I wish I could show you the dance I learned :)

Did I mention before how excited I was that my sisters were home and available to phone? Well now my parents are home too! I can't wait to call tomorrow, I hope they're home!

Do you still call your dad if you find bugs in Australia?

I've actually hardly seen any bugs :) But my sisters do wait until my dad gets back from vacation to go into the basement after seeing a centipede down there.

hey JO, 1st comment woohoo, turns out it's $2 a min to talk on the phone so mum says that when you call we will call you back on your cellphone with one of the cheap plans!evrything is good here, kinda busy mum and dad trying to sort things after being gone so long. I'd love to see your bollywood dance, buy a webcam and send a video of it to me!
