come, and meet with me

Yesterday I met up with Silvana (Mianh's mum for those of you who didn't know) in the city for lunch and a short walk. In the picture, we're standing on a bridge crossing the Yarra River. (And I'm still slouching, gar!) It was really lovely to see someone from home, to have some nice conversation, some nice food, my first non-Tim Horton's cappaccino (sp?), and to receive some birthday yarn from Mianh and some mail from my family. (Including my renewed driver's license-the first time they've updated my picture since I got my G1 7 years ago!)

In house-hunting news, competition seems really fierce, and houses are going quickly. We just looked at one last night that we should know by Thursday if we'll get it or not. Please pray that we get the right place quickly.

The whole country is in mourning today. Yesterday on my way to meet Silvana my bus couldn't make it to the stop I meant to get off at due to the huge crowds around the church across from where we were meeting. The funeral of Peter Brock, a race car driver, was taking place. And today is Steve Irwin's funeral. I've just watched little snatches of it-have you seen the part where his 8 year old daughter gives a speech? Is the whole funeral being shown in Canada, or just parts?
