Tasmania
Tasmania was great. We packed a lot into 5 days. We saw caves, Port Arthur, a small old town, met the parents of one of our teachers, saw penguins, and went on a beautiful hike in Freycinet National Park. Brian and Heather did a great job driving on the other side of the road, and it was great having a car and the freedom that goes along with it.
It turns out that no motels here have rooms with two queen size beds, so we shared rooms with one queen (called a double here) and a double (called a single here). Our first night, I sat onto what I though was going to be the bed behind me, being used to motels with two queen beds, and fell down because behind me was empty space and a single bed. I smacked my thigh and face on a metal chair and ended up with a lovely cut inside my mouth and bit of difficulty eating my next couple of meals.
I'm trying to get a shutterfly site going so that you can look at all the 100 or so pictures I took, but I'm having hard time making it all work. I'll let you know when the site's up and running properly. In the meantime, enjoy these (beach in Bicheno, wallaby and her joey, ruins at Port Arthur):

See Bob, she was on vacation, not arrested on drug smuggling charges. Whew!
The pics are nice :) What season would it be in Australia? Hope you aren't missing fall!

It's spring! And no, I'm not missing fall too much because the weather since I've been here has been very fall-like.

Whew! You're right, Aphra. I was beginning to worry. And, really, Joanna does stike you as the kind of girl who would be smuggling drugs, doesn't she. That is, if she had any left over.
Nice to hear from you again, Jo. We missed you!
