I was pretty homesick leading up to my birthday, but it turned out to be a really good day. Thanks for all the facebook messages and emails :) Hugh made me a deliciously fattening breakfast, we went to the movies and had friends over in the evening. It was crazy warm for this time of year, and the heat actually felt really odd. It was hard to wear the right clothes for the temperature.

It's Hugh's birthday today. I gave him his gift over breakfast this morning (season 5 of Grand Designs) and will make him dinner tonight. I asked him what he wanted and he chose apricot chicken, which I don't really like. I was tempted to ask him if he wouldn't prefer something else, knowing I could probably talk him around to one of my favorites, but managed to hold my tongue. I won't be making him a cake since we left his parents' place yesterday with a whole chocolate cake from his grandparents and leftovers from the pavlova and banana chocolate cake his mom made us.

I'd better get to the store and buy some apricots!
